Dec 10: Day by Day with Father Bill
THURSDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK OF ADVENT
The Advent Mystery
We prepare, amid waiting, for the future world whenever we sacrifice our selfish interests and accept life as it is and events are they are, that is, as an unpredictable sum total of joys, sufferings and anxieties, brutal separations and painful confrontations. The active acceptance of all this is required of us on our mysterious journey through time to the end the Lord has foreseen. In suffering as in joy (we have little power over either), we are summoned to travel over high mountains, in realms far beyond our normal human condition and at altitudes where, left to ourselves, we could not breathe. Yet we are to journey as though the air were native to us.
