Sep 10: Day by Day with Father Bill
THURSDAY OF THE TWENTY-THIRD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME
-from Christ Is Alive by Pope Francis
Are you looking for passion? As that beautiful poem says: Fall in love!, because nothing is more practical than finding God, than falling in love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, whom you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love, and it will decide everything. This love for God, that can approach everything in life with passion, is possible thanks to the Spirit, for God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” (Romans 5:5) The Holy Spirit is the source of youth at its best. For those who trust in the Lord are like a tree planted by water sending out its roots by the stream; it shall not fear when heat comes, and its leaves shall stay green.” (Jeremiah 17:8) While youths shall faint and be weary (Isaiah 40:30), those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
The beautiful poem Pope Francis quotes is attributed to Father General Pedro Arrupe, SJ.
