Eat, Drink & Be St. Mary
It’s the season to give thanks…for apples, cinnamon, and pumpkin.
Food For Thought gathered for their inaugural event in October to share their love of pies. 10 volunteers came together to bake 16 pies–3 varieties– to share at the event. Not only did attendees get to learn how to make pies from scratch, but they also got to snack during the presentation and take a treat home. From pumpkin pie, to Dutch Apple, and the double-crusted apple pie, the evening was a success. As we know sharing is caring, here is the recipe for the Red Owl Festive Pumpkin pie.
Mix Together:
- 1-16 oz. can of pumpkin (not pie filling)
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 c. Brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 1/2 c. Half + Half
Pour into prepared pie crust. Bake at 450 for 10 minutes and then 350 for 45-50 minutes.
